9 Yards, a five-piece rock & pop covers band from Bideford, North Devon. Formed in 2012 by one of the bands charismatic lead singers, John Wassall and fellow “Kick the Habit” drummer, Ben Eastman, the band features the considerable talents of brothers Nathan & Jamie Porter on guitars and bass, with the sensational singing talent of Marie Thorpe on lead/ backing vocals completing the line up!
9 Yards have a highly polished set to suit any event or occasion, whether it be a small intimate pub gig, wedding or large music festival, 9 Yards has the depth, experience and dam right showmanship to put together a unique performance which is guaranteed to get the crowd jumping, supporting some of the country’s best loved bands such as The Animals, Sham 69 and The Christians to name but a few, as well as headlining some of the area’s largest events, including the legendary Bideford New Year’s Eve celebrations.
On Drums, Ben Eastman, the consummate professional. Ben’s played with a number of local bands including touring band, ‘Just Fooling’ and ‘Kick the Habit’ where he met John.
On Bass, its Jamie Porter, an accomplished bass player and guitarist, supporting his brother Nathan in many popular bands up and down the country.
Lead Guitar, Nathan Porter is a highly accomplished session musician and music teacher.
Up front, on lead and backing vocals, Marie Thorpe cut her teeth on tour with a professional show band, touring throughout the UK & Europe where she developed her intoxicating style, matched only by fellow frontman and founding members, John Wassall. John has toured around the world with various bands, most notably ‘The Scratch Band’ featuring Geoff Whitehorn, He has also toured with ‘Madeleine May’, ‘Aerosmith’ and the legendary, ‘Meat Loaf’ to name but a few. John’s gutsy singing style, mixed with Marie’s vocal ability and range will not disappoint.
